Gary James Ray, 74, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Memphis.

Gary was born on May 29, 1946, in Gibson County, TN, to the late, James Wade and Billie Joyce Morgan Ray. He was a self-employed farmer, truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Gary was a former employee with Curry's Funeral Home, where he worked for 18 years and served as a board member for over 30 years with the Dyer County Fair. He was a member of Our Little Country Church. Gary had a passion for antique engines and tractors.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Royce McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ray of Dyersburg, TN; two sons, Finis Ray of Nashville, TN and Fletcher Ray of Ridgely, TN; a daughter, Donna Shelton (Jerry) of South Fulton, KY; a step-daughter, Laurie Douglas of Dyersburg, TN; two step-sons, Brandon Douglas of Clarksville, TN and Jamie Douglas (Amanda) of Dyersburg, TN; five grandchildren, Chloe Hendricks, Lexie Hendricks, Tyler Kohlmeyer, Brittany Kohlmeyer and Kim Kohlmeyer; and two great-grandchildren, Karter Smith and Collin Smith.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Douglas, Jamie Douglas, Tyler Kohlmeyer, Hunter Russell, Harold Mallard and Brock Elkins.
