Gary Darnell McCollum, Sr., 71, of Kenton, TN, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on February 14, 1952, in Henderson, TN, to Rev. W.D. and Hermie Plunk McCollum. Gary was a retired safety coordinator with Bekart Corporation. After retirement, Gary went on to work for NWTHRA as a driver. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling. Gary was an avid country line dancer and would travel to Halls, Humboldt or anywhere in between to find a dance. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. If asked how he wanted to be remembered by, Gary would say "I have lived a blessed life".

Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Yorkville Cemetery with Bro. Carmon Dennison officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his son, Gary McCollum, Jr. (Susan) of Dyersburg, TN; his parents, Rev. W.D. and Hermie McCollum of Adamsville, TN; a brother, Tommy McCollum (Carlene) of Adamsville, TN; six grandchildren, Karlee McCollum, Madison McCollum, Conner McCollum, Jenna McCollum, Kylie Callaway and Makayla Callaway; and a great-grandson, Jase Hawks.

Gary was preceded in death by a son, Jason McCollum.

Pallbearers will be Gary McCollum, Jr., Conner McCollum, Tommy McCollum, Brandon Hawks, Brandon McCollum and Philip "Buster" Lippard. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Morrow, Steve Sanford, Jimmy Hanna, Johnny Williams and Mark Johnson.
