Obituary

Gary 'Rusty' Canada Sr., 70, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at his residence.
He was a retired butcher for Rusty's Meat Market, an Air Force veteran, a volunteer driver for the Memphis VA hospital, and a member of the Shriners Clown Unit.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Springhill Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bill Oakley officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamera Canada Henry and husband, Chuck, of Stockbridge, Ga.; a son, Gary Canada Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Jeanice Smith of Texas and Marcie Essary of Lebanon, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Nikki Canada, Shane Canada and Jessica Henry; a step-grandchild, Tonya Hardin; a great-grandchild, Haylie Gooch; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kayla Hardin and Josie Culver.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Canada; his parents, A.B. and Helen Canada; and a brother, Roger Canada.

Pallbearers will be Jay Canada, Dirk Essary, Chet Leonard, Greg Shell, Paul Shell and Chucky Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Smith, Scott Shell, Jason Boswell and Dwayne Suratt.
