Obituary

Freeman Dudley, 72, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his residence.

He was the owner and operator of Car's Unlimited, member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ, Dyersburg City Alderman for 14 years, former Commissioner of Dyersburg Dixie Youth Baseball for 20 + years and former part owner of Dyersburg Piano and Storage Company.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at West Dyersburg Church of Christ with Dr. Ricky Burse, Mr. Larry Fowlkes and Mr. Shannon Walker officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Dudley of Dyersburg; a daughter, Carla Dudley Taylor and husband, Marty, of Newbern; a son, Jimmy Dudley of Newbern; a sister, Patricia Phillips of Halls; four brothers, Wallace Dudley of Ridgely, Roger Dudley and Bobby Gene Dudley, both of Dyersburg and Paul Dudley of Tatumville; four grandchildren, Allison Dudley, Kara Taylor, Ali Grace Taylor and Hunter Taylor; and a great-grandchild, Payton Tyler Hicks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Helen Hutchison Dudley; and a brother, Joe Glen Dudley.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Sykes, Tom Autry, Steve Bennett, Eddie Shultz, Ed Jackson and Laddie Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond McBride, Larry Fowlkes, David Walker, John Huse Robinson and Melvin Ferguson.
