Mr. Freddie Joe McGuire, Sr. of Dyersburg, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Jackson General Hospital.  Freddie was born in the Cockleburr community on January 9, 1942.  He dedicated over 30 years to the Heckethorn Manufacturing Co. in Dyersburg as a production machinery operator.  He was a Baptist by faith and loved outdoor activities.  Some of his favorites were fishing, hunting and riding ATVs with friends and family.  He enjoyed western movies and shows, was a fan of local and professional wrestling and the thrill of scratch-off games.

Freddie is survived by his son, Freddie McGuire, Jr. and wife, Angela, of Dyersburg, his daughters Glenda Street and Cynthia Loines of Dyersburg and Shirley Gourley of Wardell, Mo., his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Billy Hall of Dyersburg.  He was greatly loved as "PaPaw" by his seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, of 63 years, Emma Jean McGuire, his mother Lurlene Plunk Haynes and father Jesse Plunk.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 conducted by Mr. David Loines.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.  Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Johnathan Jones, Aubrey McCaig, Jarin Hinson, James Young, Jason Markham, Connor Jones, Shawhn Jones, Austin McGuire and Tanner Hinson.
