Obituary

Franklin Ray "Greasey" Smith, 73, of Ridgely, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at his residence.

He was a retired truck driver and mechanic for Smith Trucking/Ford Construction. Mr. Smith was a Pentecostal.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Clayton Mahan officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Merle Smith of Ridgely; three sons, Darrell Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, David Smith and Daniel Smith, both of Ridgely; two sisters, Mae Davis of Martin and Bonnie William of Denham Springs, LA; four grandchildren, Cace Smith, Leslie Smith Barnes, Hannah Rose Smith and Darrell Ray Smith, Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis Goodman, Lakelyn Barnes and Oscar "Trey" Allen III.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Josie Hearod Smith; and a brother, William "Dub" Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Scott, John Neil, Billy Hopper, Bobby Wiggins, Cotton Brewer, Randall Young, Jaxon Neil and Mike Lanier. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Gene Rogers, Larry Choate, Johnny Neil, Tom Roark, Leslie Davis and Wayne Smith.
