Obituary

Fay McDowell, 75, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at The Highlands of Dyersburg.

She was a retired secretary for the Public Defender's Office, member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, former owner with her husband of the Shake Shop, former bookkeeper with the Dyer County Sheriff's Department, former secretary of the District Attorney's Office and a former secretary for Dyersburg Avionics.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Annetta Camp officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Joe McDowell of Dyersburg; a sister, Betty Davis and husband, Jerrie, of Reelfoot Lake; two grandchildren, Mason McDowell and wife, Blair, and Anna Carol Cantu and husband, J.D., all of Dyersburg; three great-grandchildren, Joey Kathleen McDowell, Jadan Cantu and Jace Allison Cantu; four nieces, Michele Holder, Tina Pittman, Debbie Arnold and Janice Arnold; and two nephews, Sammy Arnold and Daniel Davis; and Joyce Ozment, who she loved as a daughter.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Ann McDowell; a son, Joey McDowell; her parents, Wavy and Blanche Gifford Autry; and a sister, Nora Arnold.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Arnold, Daniel Davis, Jody Arnold, Greg McCain, Chris Hamm and Brian Luckett.

The family requests that memorials be directed to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to Dyersburg/Dyer County Cancer Fund.
