Obituary

Evelyn Justine Jordan, 66, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was a retired lab technician with the Women's Clinic and a member of First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg, where she was the former President of United Methodist Women, founder of Prayer Quilt Ministry, leader of Campbell Soup Label Project, former Kindergarten Teacher, was in charge of mailing weekly newsletters, member of Hand Bell Choir, former director of Vacation Bible School and was founding member and current Treasurer of Jubilate DEO Sunday School Class. She was a Red Cross Volunteer, a former Cub Scout Den Mother of Pack 87 and a former member of Year-A-Round Garden Club.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Russell and the Rev. Wade Cox officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday in the church sanctuary.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Jordan, Jr. of Dyersburg; a daughter, Brandy Andrea Jordan of Dyersburg; two sons, James William Jordan and Brandon Andrew Jordan and wife, Janet, all of Dyersburg; a brother, Charles K. Hendrix and wife, Louise, of Dyersburg; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Hendrix and Thelma Woodard Hendrix.

Pallbearers will be Dick Breedlove, Jake Browning, Roy Campbell, Dan Felkner, George Goldsby and J.D. Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Beck, Lloyd Collier, Dawson Whitkopf and members of the Jubilate DEO Class.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Reelfoot Rural Ministries, Hand Bell Fund at First United Methodist Church or to Dyer County Community Cancer Fund.
