Eva C. Smith, 91, of Dyersburg, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born December 18, 1924 in Murray, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Grogan Boggess and Carl Vala Wrye Boggess. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Seller's Sunday School Class and active in her church circle. She was active in her garden club and especially fond of growing roses. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Basil E. Smith.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 12:00 on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed White and Rev. Eric Smith officiating. Visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Basil E. Smith Jr. (Virginia) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her sister, Katherine McKenzie of Pace, Florida; three grandchildren, Rebecca Cobo (Mario) of Hobe Sound, Florida, Eric Smith (Candace) of Savannah, Tennessee, Joseph Smith of New York, New York; and six great-grandchildren, Isaac Cobo, Sofia Cobo, Roman Cobo, Coleman Smith, Crockett Smith, and Clarabelle Smith.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Pearl Boggess; and three brothers, Hugh Boggess, Preston Boggess, and L.B. Boggess.
Pallbearers will be Richard McKenzie, Ken Jones, Sam Bopp, Jeff Hall, Vondal Davidson, and Lynn Brooks.
