Ester Lee Jennings Tubbs was born on June 30, 1923 at Unionville, TN in Dyer County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bridgett and Mont Jennings; siblings: Gertrude Jennings Tubbs, Carmack Jennings, J.D. Jennings, Bill Butler, Ernest Butler, Dutch Butler, Nelsie Butler Johnston, Addie Butler King, Mary Butler Crocker, Neil Ratliff; grandson Gregory Heath Tidwell, and stillborn daughter, Mary Anne Tubbs.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn King officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by husband, William Peery Tubbs, daughters, Alice Tubbs Wake (Jim), Nancy Tubbs Boutwell (Bill), and Joyce Tubbs Thompson; grandchildren: Phillip Dale Tidwell II, Peyton William Stevens (Ashley), Emy Katherine Thompson; great grandchildren: Claire Anne Tidwell, Bailey Caroline Tidwell, Jocelyn Meleia Stevens, sister Grace Jennings Davidson, sister-in-law Peggy Tubbs, brother-in-law Ted Tubbs and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her caregivers Linda Powers and Lisa Zaricor and many dear friends.
A member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, she was active for many years in her Sunday School Class. Her services included sending cards, home visits, and baking for those in need. An avid homemaker, she took pride in her family and surroundings. With always a meal to share, many enjoyed her cooking and her company. She had a listening ear and a good heart for all who entered her doorway. Her time was freely given to the care of the elderly parents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Tubbs, Randy Tubbs, Jim Wake, William Boutwell, Phillip Tidwell and Peyton Stevens.
Married on December 24, 1940, Ester will be remembered as a beautiful Christian woman and an example of love and devotion to her husband, family, and friends.
