Ernest Whitt, 78, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at his residence.

He was a retired farmer.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Leonard Ballinger officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Sisk Whitt; four children, Harold Wayne Thurmond, Gary Wayne Whitt, Lissa Whitt Kimbro and Joyce Dallas White; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dottie Whitt; a sister-in-law, Mary Whitt; and a nephew, Anthony Whitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sally Wilson Whitt; three sisters, Marie Ava Kendall, Pearl Hood and Cory Ruth Whitt Stone; and three brothers, Guy Whitt, Thomas Whitt and Ray Whitt.

Pallbearers will be Brad Dallas, Johnny N. Kimbro, Josh Whitt, Stephen Thurmond, Bobby Newby and Joe Dallas.
