Ernest Alton Simpson, 79, of Alamo, died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was a retired distributor for Towncraft Cookware, a member of First Baptist Church in Maury City, he was also a retired employee of Heckethorn Mfg. and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his five daughters, Jane Peery and Tina Bell, both of Dyersburg, Joan Huie of Newbern, Mary Lemons and Robin Hunt, both of Martin; four sisters, Littie Ratliff, Leatha Tirey, Faye Roberson and June Beecham, all of Dyersburg; two brothers, Jerry Simpson and Troy Simpson, both of Nashville; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hughes Simpson; his parents, Roy and Addie Hill Simpson; a son, Ernest Simpson, Jr.; two sisters, Sue Hurst and Hazel Tidwell; and a brother, Jimmy Simpson.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ratliff, Terry Ratliff, Tim Hardin, Marty Hurst, Randall Hurst and Franklin Hurst.
