Ernest Alford, 103, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center.

Ernest was born on February 3, 1919, in Lenox, TN, to the late, Robert Alexander Alford and the late Sadie Mae Blakeley. In 1981, Mr. Ernest retired from Edenton-Lamb Manufacturing Company. After retirement, he went to work for Moody Wadley transporting vehicles. Mr. Alford proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a long run operator.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Alford officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, and two special nieces and his caregivers, Donna Hopper and Jenny Hatch.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Lois Alford; a sister, Estelle Barnett; and five brothers, Clarence Alford, Hubert Alford, Ezell Alford, Stoy Alford and Lee Roy Alford.

Pallbearers will be Austin Crum, Aaron Crum, Bradley Greer, Jack Jones, Brian Hatch and Scott McCaslin.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center for their wonderful care of Mr. Ernest.
