Elvis Lee Fortner's Obituary
Elvis Lee Fortner, 71, of Newbern, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, MO.
He was a retired Sergeant First Class with the U.S. Army, where he served for 21 ½ years. Mr. Fortner attended Rehoboth Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Travis Davison, Jr. officiating.
The Fortner Family will receive visitors from 5-6 p.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughter, Tonja Jo Taylor of Cadiz, KY; a son, James Richard "Rick" Fortner of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Frances Fortner of Dyersburg; three brothers, J.R. Fortner of Newbern, Richard Fortner and Charles Fortner, both of Dyersburg; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Clara Bryant Fortner.
The Fortner Family requests that memorial be directed to Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
