Elmer Lynn Burkett, 70, of Martin, formerly of Mooring, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on December 20, 1946 in Humphreys County, TN to the late, Hardy Burkett and the late Lettie Pearl Sager Burkett. Elmer was a retired farmer and was a Baptist.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert Burkett officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
The Burkett Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorothy McLeod Burkett of Martin; a daughter, Sherry Burkett Johnson and husband, Earl, of Tiptonville; a son, Terry Lynn Burkett and wife, Ginny, of Dresden; a brother, Bert Burkett and wife, Wanda, of Ridgely; three sisters, his twin Corinne Burkett Buchanan and husband Richard, of Troy, Betty Verlene Bray and husband, Gil, of Tiptonville and Fannie Nunnery of Ridgely; five grandchildren, Logan Brewer, Kaleb Lynn Brewer, Maddie Burkett, Terry Lynn Burkett, II and Izzy Burkett; and thirty-two nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Burkett and Ben Burkett; and two sisters, Geraldine Suiter and Mary Marvin.
Pallbearers will be Danny Stafford, James Laster, Howard Sherlock, Jim Wilson, Cotton Brewer and Billy Joe Cook.
