Obituary

Mrs. Ella B. Phillips of Memphis, TN., died on June 28, 2013, after a prolonged illness.

She was a retired restaurant owner with her husband, a retired department manager for J.L. Hudson Company and was a member of the Lioness's Club in Paris, TN. She was born near Dyersburg and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church there. She resided at the Highlands Terrace. Mrs. Phillips lived 96 wonderful years.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Nate Ozment and Bro. Dennis Neenan officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

She leaves her daughter, Gale Mason, also of Memphis; her son, William C. Phillips, Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of Richland, WA. She also leaves four grandchildren, Sarah Mason Galloway (Jim), John Phillips (Rosalie), Bill Phillips (Dawna) and Tina Phillips Kingsley (Josh); plus 14 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Rev. Charles Pledge and wife, Wanda, is her sole remaining sibling. Mrs. Phillips leaves many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Phillips, Sr.; her parents, George and Betty Thompson Pledge; two sisters, Nora Pledge and Louise Jackson; and three brothers, Robert Pledge, James Pledge and Glenn Pledge.
