Edward "Jake" Wynn Estes' Obituary
Edward "Jake" Wynn Estes, 88, of Kernersville, NC, formerly of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Piney Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Dyer County on April 22, 1925 to the late Harmon and Rosa Estes. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers Memphis Office. Mr. Estes was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Willard officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Myra Willard and husband, Mike, of Kernersville, NC; four grandchildren, Melissa Edwards and husband, Neil, Megan Sargalis and husband, Matt, Jacob Estes and friend, Jennifer, and Maggie Estes; and three great-grandchildren, Madalyn Kate Edwards, Jackson Estes and Stella Estes.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edith Hopper Estes; and a son, Michael W. Estes.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27101.
