Obituary

Earline Hood Brooks, 80, of Dyersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2013.

She was born in Dyer County on January 3, 1933 to the late Silas and Georgia Hood. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Harold Brooks. They spent most of their life on a farm in the Bobwire Community, near Bogota. After moving to Dyersburg, she worked at Sylvania and Wal-Mart. Earline was a member of Lenox Baptist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Rudy Ring officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Brooks Edgin and husband, Jimmy, of Dyersburg; six sons, Randy Brooks and wife, Connie, David Brooks and wife, Kay, Billy Gene Brooks and wife, Ann, and Ronnie Brooks and wife, Joyce, all of Dyersburg, Ricky Brooks and wife, Pam and Kevin Brooks, all of Bogota; a brother, Bill Hood of Oakbrook, IL; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Dolly Birholtz; and three brothers, Ozell Hood, Clifford Hood and Welton Gene Hood.

Pallbearers will be her sons and her nephew, Roger Long.
