Obituary

Earl L. Willoughby, Sr., 90, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Highlands of Dyersburg.

He was a retired street department supervisor for the City of Dyersburg and served 12 years as a City of Dyersburg Police Officer. Earl was a member of the Christ Church Baptist Fellowship and was a Mason. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving his country during WWII and the Korean War. While in WWII, he served in the 11th Constabulary regiment in Germany. During the Korean War, he received the Purple Heart Medal.

Graveside services with full Military Honors will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jack Chapman and Mr. Larry Fowlkes officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Willoughby of Dyersburg; a daughter, Vicki Fowlkes and husband, Albert, of Huntsville, AL; three sons, Earl L. Willoughby, Jr. of Dyersburg, Charles Vincent Willoughby of Dyersburg and Thomas Daniel Willoughby and wife, Deborah, of Knoxville; a brother, Carter Willoughby of Finley; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Beatrice Siler Willoughby; and eight brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Ray, Robert Chapman, Albert Fowlkes, Dustin White, Jeff McKinney and Rodney McKinney.
