Doty Dow Johnston, 87, of Dyersburg, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
He was the retired co-owner of Johnston & Pruitt Auto Repair. He was a member and song leader of Phillips Street Church of Christ and loved walking outdoors. Mr. Johnston was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Faye Pruitt Johnston of Dyersburg; two sons, Mark Johnston and wife, Dianne, of Dyersburg and Barry Johnston of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three sisters, Wanda June Davison and husband, Harold, of Finley, Joy Walker and husband, Wendell, of Dyersburg and Retha Hodge of Warrenville, IL; two grandsons, Shawn Johnston and wife, Anne-Kathryn, of Carencro, LA and Aaron Johnston of Oklahoma City, OK; and two great-grandchildren, Asher Johnston and Tullis Johnston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Stella Wolfe Johnston; and a sister, Joel Hubbard.
Pallbearers will be Steve Walker, Tim Walker, Lance Davison, Jimmy Allen Kimbrell, David Goodwin and Robbie Richards. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Cole and Mitchell Kimbrell.
