Dorothy Lavenia White, 81, of Newbern, TN, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at her residence.

Dorothy was born on January 14, 1941, in Ridgely, TN, to the late, Leroy and Bessie Glosier James. She was a cashier at Manns Gas Station and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers, trinkets and enjoyed reading the Stephen King novels. Dorothy loved to fish, going to yard sales and working in her garden. She was happily married to her husband for 68 years and loved her children and grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn White (Thomas Fleischmann) of Overland, MO; two sons, Kevin White (Suzie) of Imperial, MO and Chris White of Dyersburg, TN; her goddaughter, Dotty White Richards (Randy); her daughter-in-law, Mary Henniger White of Maryland Heights, MO; a brother, Ronald James (Sharon) of Jasper, IN; a sister, Carolyn James of Texas; seventeen grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her two K-9 companions, J.R. and Cujo.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, George White, Sr.; a son, George Edward White, Jr.; three brothers, Robert James, Terry Lynn James and Johnny Ray James; and two sisters, Brenda Sue and Jenny Lynn.

Pallbearers will be George White III, Kevin White, Chris White, Randy Richards, Ryley Richards and Rexley Richards.
