Dorothy "Dottie" Louise Sells, 82, of Dyersburg, TN, went to be with Lord on Friday, December 17, 2021, passing away at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1939, in Charleston, MO, to the late Asa Jacob Estes and the late Jewell Rogers Estes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sells will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg with the Reverend Gary Durham officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Family will receive visitors at the church on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 5-8 p.m.

She graduated from Charleston (MO) High School in 1957. After graduating high school, Mrs. Sells moved to St. Louis, MO. While in St. Louis, she met and later married her husband, Darrell Sells, on September 7, 1963 and they had two children, Darren Sells and Dena Quertermous. In St. Louis, she did clerical work and was a homemaker.

In the summer of 1976, she and Darrell moved their family to Dyersburg, TN to own and operate numerous McDonald's Restaurant where she did the restaurant's bookkeeping. She was actively working until the middle of October when she started to have some medical issues.

She loved people and was caring in that aspect. She had a compassionate soul, thought of others and always wished the best for people whether she knew them or not. She supported numerous charitable organizations that helped people. She was very honest and opinionated. You always knew where you stood with her.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Darrell Sells of Dyersburg, TN; two children, Darren Sells (Stephanie) and Dena Quertermous (Bentley) all of Dyersburg, TN. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Bingham of Charleston, MO and Odetta Holland of Advance, MO; and by one brother, Jacob "Sonny" Estes (Barbara) of Millington, TN.

She is further survived by her grandchildren, Brittney Sells, Jacob Sells (Kayla), Evan Quertermous, Preslee Quertermous and Colbie Sells, all of Dyersburg, TN, Drew Powell of Jackson, TN and Kendall Powell of Martin, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa Jacob Estes and Jewell Rogers Estes, as well as two sisters, Viola LePage and Shirley James.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Sells, Evan Quertermous, Drew Powell, Jeff Gamble, Mark Moore, Wallace Rice and Brian Shipley. Honorary pallbearers will be Abe Hawatt and John Anders.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Youth Ministry in Dyersburg or to the Ronald McDonald House in Memphis.
