Obituary

Dorothy Bonds Hunt, 88, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
She was a retired registered nurse. She and her first husband, Dr. James Bonds started a pediatric practice in Dyersburg in 1953 and worked together until his death in 1976. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church, where she was also a member of XYZ Club and a former member of Summer Hill Garden Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs, Miss. with the Rev. Raymond Boston officiating.

The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Bonds Tinkle and husband, David, and Becky Bonds Jackson and husband, Ed, all of Dyersburg; a son, Dr. James Walker "Jimmy" Bonds and wife, Tammy, of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Lorraine Barksdale of Memphis; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. James W. Bonds; her second husband, L.V. Stevens; her third husband, Walter Hunt Jr.; and her parents, William and Ethel Young Smith.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Jackson, Garrett Tinkle, Wade Kifer, J. Paul Jackson, Ed Jackson, David Tinkle and Rob Bonds.
