Doris Elaine Roy, age 72 was born August 16, 1943, and left this earth March 28, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness.

Doris graduated from Jackson High school in 1961. Also a graduate of West Tennessee Business College she then went on to receive her paralegal certification from Jackson State Community College. Ms. Roy worked at Service Merchandise in Jackson for many years and retired from Goldsmiths Department Store in 1997. After retirement she worked for the Salvation Army. Doris was an avid reader and loved to cook.

Ms. Roy is survived by two brothers, Michael and Patrick Pride, and three sisters Patricia Sanford, Teresa Long and Sandy Godwin all of Jackson. Also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews all who loved her dearly and will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Ophelia Latham Pride; and a brother, Brian Pride.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Brother Mike Long officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
