Obituary

Mr. Donald Wayne Roberson, of Dyersburg, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.  Don was born December 7, 1938 in the Chic community of Dyer County.  He and his family moved to Chicago in the early 1950's and after high school, he went to work for the A&P Bakery Co. for many years and served proudly in the United States Army.   During this time, he met his wife, Joyce and later they moved back to settle in Dyersburg.  They purchased the Double R Restaurant in Southtown and Joyce managed it as Don did not like to work with food.  He started driving a local milk delivery route for Mr. Joe Ledford.  Later, when his wife passed away, he sold the Double R Restaurant and went to work for Dr Pepper-Pepsi of Dyersburg as a delivery driver, until his retirement.  In his free time, he loved to hunt and fish and go to as many local car races as he could.  He also enjoyed the races at Southland Park in West Memphis, AR, where he was pretty lucky, sometimes.  Family gatherings including fireworks, cookouts, birthdays and holidays together meant a lot to Don.  His nieces and nephews say that they will miss him for their big fireworks show this year.  Everyone that knew Don had only good words and memories of time with him.

Don is survived by his sister Glenda Clinton and many nieces, nephews and their families.  He is preceded in death by wife Joyce Roberson and son Phillip Dwain Roberson, his parents; Claude and Mary Evie Jones Roberson, his sister Maxine Parrish and his five brothers; Buck, Luke, Bill, Delbert and Jerry Paul Roberson.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 conducted by Bro. Billy Tucker.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until services begin.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Dave, Bry, Jason, Larry, Mike and Red Roberson honored to serve as pallbearers.  The family request that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be directed to Volunteer Baptist Church in Dyersburg, TN.
