Donald Hicks Orr, 82, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Oakwood Community Living Center.

Don was born on September 11, 1937, in Bruceton, TN, to the late, D.B. and Brenda Hicks Orr. He graduated from Bruceton High School and went to the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship. Don is in the Carroll County Hall of Fame and the UW Hall of Fame. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Management at UW and his Master's Degree at LSU. Don worked for the TWRA for a few years and then with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife as a Biologist, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring from the Memphis Office in 2005. He loved his work and everyone who shared his love of wildlife and the outdoors.

His interests were his family, home, gardening, fishing and duck hunting. Don was a kind and quiet, hardworking, honest and caring man and a true gentleman an all his ways. He will be missed - May he rest in peace. Don was a 2nd Lt in the U.S. Army and also served 12 years in the National Guard.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Father Patrick Hirtz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sally Twitchell Orr of Dyersburg, TN; a daughter, Shannon Orr Lee and husband, Brian, of Dyersburg, TN; three grandchildren, Ryan Lee, Braden Lee and Justin Lee; and three nephews, Rick Orr of Wichita Falls, TX, Randy Orr of Paducah, KY and Scott Orr of Murray, KY.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, D. Kevin Orr 1967-1987; a brother, Richard Keith Orr; and his grandparents, Dr. G.P. and Grace Paschall Hicks and Claude and Rosa Orr.

Pallbearers will be Brian Lee, Ryan Lee, Braden Lee, Justin Lee, Rick Orr, Randy Orr and Scott Orr.

Memorials may be directed to TN Wildlife Association, Alzheimer's-Dementia Association, MADD, St. Jude Children's Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.
