Mr. James Dickson Heathcott, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his residence. Dickson was born April 20, 1938 in Dyer County to the late Willie & Juanita Green Heathcott.  He worked in his early years, with his twin brother, Don, as a surveyor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, owned his own businesses, and later spent many years on the road as a commercial truck driver.  He loved to spend time fishing with family and friends.  He was known for his ability to fix most anything and tinker on equipment for his friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Jowers Heathcott, his twin brother, Don, his children, Dickie Heathcott, Cindy Denson, Sonja Dowdy, Brian & Jarred Heathcott and Nicole MorganHe was loved as a grandfather by Allison, Taylor, Chris, Amy, Jason, McCray and CallyBeth and his sixteen great-grandchildren.   He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Murry "Billy" Heathcott.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, conducted by Mr. Taylor Moore.  Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family ask that memorials in the name of Mr. Dickson Heathcott be directed to the American Cancer Society.
