Danny
Dedmon
December 7, 1945 – January 6, 2026
Mr. Danny Brown Dedmon, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away January 6, 2026, at the age of 80 at his home surrounded by his wife and two children. Danny was born on December 7, 1945, in Humboldt, TN, to the late Jamie and Velma Dedmon. He graduated from Rutherford High School in 1963 and went on to graduate in 1969 from the University of Mississippi with a B.S. in Pharmacy.
Danny spent his career as a pharmacist for more than 50 years in Dyersburg, Tennessee, owning and operating City Drug Company with his long-time business partner Jim Edwards, and then going on to enjoy a successful career as a sole proprietor. At the time of Danny's retirement, City Drug Company had been in existence for 132 years and was the second oldest business in Dyer County, TN.
Anyone who knew Danny Dedmon knew he was a life-long Ole Miss Rebel and supporter of the University of Mississippi. Indeed, the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Room bears his name today. He was a Cumberland Presbyterian his entire life and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Dyersburg, TN, for more than 55 years where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee of the Church. He believed fully in giving of his time and resources and did so generously. In his free time, he enjoyed outdoor pursuits such as duck hunting, shooting sports and gentleman farming (no one loved to grow a sunflower plot more).
Danny is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dolores Powell Dedmon; his son, Dean Dedmon and wife, Ann, of Dyersburg, TN; and daughter, Dinah Huthnance and husband, Will, of Houston, TX. He was fiercely loved as "Da" by his five grandchildren, with each of whom he built a special relationship: Will Dedmon, Caroline Dedmon and Hank, Lucy and Grant Huthnance. He was proceeded in death by his parents and younger brother, Benny Dedmon.
Funeral services will be held in the sanctuary of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, with services being conducted by Dr. Cory D. Williams. Friends are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family would like to thank the employees of Gentiva Hospice, Windy Reed, and Shari Tidwell, FNP, who gave such loving care and support to Danny and his family during his illness. The family asks that memorials be directed to the ministries of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in lieu of flowers.
