Colena Blanche Mayo's Obituary
Colena Blanche Mayo, 92, of Dyersburg, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at her residence.
She was a homemaker, member of People's Chapel and an avid fisherman.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammie L. Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her five daughters, Edith I. Mayo and Mable Winbush, both of Dyersburg, Rosa L. Washington and Oletha Mitchell, both of Kansas City, MO. and Lillian C. Thomas of Millington; a son, Carl L. Mayo of Kansas City, MO.; a son-in-law, Avana Pouncil of Independence, KS.; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Mayo; a daughter, Maxine Mayo Pouncil; and her parents, Edward and Lillie E. Carter Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Larry Pouncil, Darren Mayo, Carlos Thomas, Cedric Mayo, Rodney Thomas, Nicholas Smith, Willie Frank McLin and Fredrick Bolden.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
