Coach Doug R. French passed away Monday December 23, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born October 12, 1946 to the late George and Bessie Ray French in Dyersburg, TN. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He dedicated his life to coaching youth sports in Dyersburg for over 35 years. He spent nearly twenty years as an assistant coach for the Dyersburg High School Football and Softball teams and led the Trojans as Head Softball coach for ten years with the new on-campus field being dedicated in his honor. He also was well known as a life-long fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Kelley French, a son, Ryan French, two grandchildren, Zander and Kady French, all of Dyersburg, a sister, Mary Missman of Nashville, TN and a great-nephew, Tyler McGuire. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie French and a brother David "Gomer" French.

A Memorial Celebration for Coach Doug French will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m in the Dyersburg High School Gymnasium.

The family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
