Obituary

Christine "Cricket" Hart, 92, of Dyersburg, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Northbrook Nursing Home in Jackson, where she had been cared for with skill and compassion for the past several years.

Cricket was born on August 1, 1924 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Odie and Naomi McIntosh Wilkerson. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church but also attended First Assembly of God and Cornerstone Church of God in her earlier years. She was a 2nd shift nurse at Colonial Rubber for 26 years.

She had a heart that served God and accepted Jesus as her Savior at a very young age. She has always been active in her church as a Sunday School Teacher and Children's Church leader. Her sweet and kind spirit prevailed throughout her long journey with Alzheimer's and always had a contagious smile and an encouraging word for everyone she met. She left a legacy of faith to her children and grandchildren who are thankful for her love and blessed to know her.

A celebration of life for Christine Hart will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathe Ozment officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her son, Barry Hart and wife, Linda, of Dyersburg; two daughters, Phyllis Darby and husband, Ron, of Jackson and Candace Tirey and fiancé , Jimmy Cooke, of Finley; six grandchildren, Wesley Hilliard and wife, Miranda, Michael Nicks and wife, Emily, Wendy Gillon and husband, Bart, Kaylee Hart, Justin Darby and wife, Michelle and Adam Darby and wife, Brittney; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, James Howell Hart; and two sisters, Elise Bridgewater and Ruth Evelyn Reasons.

Pallbearers will be Michael Nicks, Wesley Hilliard, Adam Darby, Justin Darby, Bart Gillon and Walter Wilkerson.
