Chester Fraley, 85, of Memphis, formerly of Tiptonville, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his residence.
He was a retired plumber, member of Crestview Baptist Church and an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he received the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tiptonville City Cemetery with Mr. Carl Mills officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home Tiptonville Chapel.
Survivors include his daughter, Leigh Ann Merwin of Cordova; a son, Mike Fraley and wife, Judy, of Tiptonville; two grandchildren, Jennifer Cooper and husband, Patrick, of Auburn, AL. and Shane Fraley and wife, Mandy, of Jackson; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Fraley; his parents, William and Lena Gantlett Fraley; a sister, Estalee Parkenson; and a brother, Lester Fraley.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
