Obituary

Charlotte Putman Sweatt, 94, of Tigrett, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Bells Nursing Home.

She was born March 24, 1922 to the late James Henderson & Ninnie Bell Putman

Ms. Sweatt was a graduate of Friendship High School Class of 1939. She married her late husband on November 11, 1939.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller's Chapel Church of Christ with Mr. Sammy Young officiating. Burial will be at Belle Vernon Cemetery in Friendship. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-9 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Miller's Chapel Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years Charles (Charlie) Edward Sweatt, Jr. they resided in Tigrett all those years; also her grandson, Brian Lee Young; sister Pauline Mount; & brother James Putman.

Survived by two daughters, Charlotte Anne Elkins, Friendship & Rita Faye (Sammy) Young of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Bonita (Kenny) Vickrey of Clarksville, Terry (Cindy) Elkins of Dyersburg, Michelle (Johnny) Henley of Hillsboro; great-grandchildren, Kenny Vickrey, III, Wade Vickrey, Charlie Vickrey all of Clarksville, Brock Elkins, Breanna Elkins of Dyersburg, Ben Young, Dan Young, Hannah Young, Morgan Henley & Jordan Henley of Hillsboro.

She spent almost 40 years until her retirement, dressing the young children of Dyer & surrounding counties while working at Anna Marie's Youthland. She loved watching them grow up & bring their children into the store.

Her church & church family were extremely important to her. Her father, James Henderson Putman, help start Miller's Chapel Church of Christ. She stayed true to her beliefs until she was called home. You would find her there every Sunday morning for Bible Study, followed by Sunday service. She would be back Sunday night & again Wednesday Night for midweek bible study.
