Obituary

Charles Thomas (Tommy) "Tinker" Norris, 83, of Tiptonville, died at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional on Friday, September 9, 2016.

Tinker was born July 14, 1933 to the late John Love Norris and Izella Finley Norris. He lived in Tiptonville his entire life, where he graduated high school with perfect attendance for 12 straight years. Tinker was a Christian and a member of Tiptonville First Baptist Church.

He retired from Wright Mats after 26 years of pouring concrete. He then retired from Moody-Wadley Auto Dealership after 23 years. His reputation as an honest car salesman earned him respect all over Lake County and Dyer County. After retirement, Tinker enjoyed fishing and maintaining his beautiful yard. Tinker was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved God and his family and was full of life.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Tiptonville with the Rev. Fred Ritter and Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Peggy King Norris, his wife of 64 years, survives. He also leaves his daughter, Tammy Norris Gray; his son-in-law, Ricky; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Norris, Jr.; his brothers, Bill Norris, J.L. Norris, Sonny Norris, Bobby Norris; and his sisters, Mary Ann Norris, Virginia Colvard, Helen Jean Hyde and Doris Ruth Albin.

Pallbearers will be Tony Parker, David Gooch, Elmer Staggs, Wayne Hatley, Drew Cook and Gary White. Honorary pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class and Jimmy King.

The family requests that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
