Charles Edward Pitts, 85, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 in Ridgely, TN.

Charles was born on December 20, 1937, in Carroll County, TN, to the late Joseph Levi Pitts and the late Nellie Scott Ross Pitts. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for H.I.S. and was a member and elder of Tiptonville Church of Christ. Charles was an avid Lake County baseball, football and basketball fan. He had served as a baseball and softball coach for many years and even established the first Babe Ruth Program in Lake County. Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Tiptonville Church of Christ with Mr. Dean Kelly officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the church.

Survivors include his son, Brad Pitts (Brandy) of Odenton, MD; his daughter-in-law, Judy Pitts; a sister, Bonnie Hayden of Paducah, KY; seven grandchildren, Ryan Pitts, Chaeli Pitts, Michael Pitts, Chelsea Prater, Shawn Mutters, Michael Mutters and Ashley Pitts; and seven great-grandchildren, Lyla Pitts, Charles "Charlie" Pitts, III, Henry Prater, Ruby Prater, Ivy Prater, Whiten Hutton and Willow Mutters.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Bell Pitts; a son, Mike Pitts; and several of his siblings, Irene, Clovis, "Tobe", Marie and Nellie Jo.

Pallbearers will be Michael Pitts, Darren Strayhorn, Shawn Mutters, Michael Mutters, Tony Wallace and Roger Glenn Bell.
