Charles Richard "Dick" Stanfield, Jr., 79, of Dyersburg, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was the former owner and founder of Stanfield's Nursery 50 years ago and was a Presbyterian. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was President of Dyersburg High School Booster Club, founding member of the Dyersburg Bass Club, member of Ducks Unlimited and a member of Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce for 30 years. Dick was a member of Dyersburg Jaycees, former Boy Scout Leader, member of the Moose Lodge and member of the Tennessee Conservation League. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH in 1961. It was there he met his wife, Nancy.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy Stanfield of Dyersburg; a daughter, Sherry Stanfield Saxon and husband, Michael, of Memphis; two sons, David Stanfield and wife, Elizabeth, of Massillon, OH and Steven Stanfield of Dyersburg; a brother, Robert "Bob" Stanfield and wife, Linda, of Grand Junction, CO; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Stanfield Pinion and husband, Tyson, of Findley, OH, Hunter Thomas Stanfield and Matthew David Stanfield, both of Dyersburg and Christopher Michael Saxon of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Richard "Chuck", Sr. and Margaret Sylvester Stanfield; and a brother, Jim Stanfield.
Pallbearers will be Trent Alford, Tom Mathis, Rusty Burrow, Randy Burrow, Chris Wilson and Bryan Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Troy, Andy Baker, Bill Baker, Ken Alford and Terry Glover.
