Charles Edward Cowles, Jr., 69, of Dyersburg, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Charles was a certified public accountant. He and his best friend, Charles Dawson, were the "Voice of the Trojans" radio broadcasters for over 30 years at Dyersburg High School. He was a former member of the Dyer County Fair Board, a Dixie Youth Baseball Coach for over 10 years, was a former member of the James Gang Bowling League and enjoyed golfing with his son. Charles was saved at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis. He was a loving father and grandfather, whom they called "Big Daddy". He always supported every activity they were involved in. His favorite place was Sandestin, FL, where he and his family visited every summer. Charles served in the Army National Guard.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The Cowles Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his three daughters, Stacey Cowles Williams (Scott) of Dyersburg, Courtney Cowles Watkins (Jason) of Germantown, and Lauren Cowles McLemore (Corey) of Medina; a son, Lance Cowles (Catherine) of Germantown; four half-brothers, Eddie Cowles, Bobby Cowles, Mark Cowles, Scott Cowles; a half-sister, Cathy Cowles; and ten grandchildren, Henley Williams, Cole Watkins, Ella Watkins, Jacey Watkins, Elaina Cowles, Lyla Cowles, Jackson Cowles, Nora Cowles, Ben McLemore, and Hattie McLemore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Cowles, Sr. and Anna Ree Moore; and his sister, Carolyn Ann Cowles.
Pallbearers will be Jason Watkins, Corey McLemore, Scott Williams, Charles Dawson, Mickey Mahon, Sam Rhodes, and Danny Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Tarpley and Cole Watkins.
