Charles Taylor Corum, 91, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Raised by his maternal aunt, Lula Welborn and his grandfather, Harris Taylor, Charles worked for many years at the downtown Western Auto Store. After retirement, he worked at his tire and battery store on Finley Street as well as delivering for Super D until age 85. He has always done bicycle repair and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday morning secretary for almost 50 years, not missing one Sunday for most of those years.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Hickman officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughter, Ann Corum Curtis and husband, Gerald, of Dyersburg; two grandchildren, Taylor Curtis and wife, Nicole, of Dyersburg and Maryevelyn Curtis Scott and husband, Tim, of Atoka; and five great-grandchildren, Samantha Anne Scott, T.J. Scott, Trey Scott, Emilee Curtis and Eliza Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Wyatt Corum; and his parents, Barton and Katherine Taylor Corum.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Curtis, Tommy Rice, Lance Hood, T.J. Scott and Gerald Curtis.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the building fund of First Baptist Church or to the donor's choice of charity.
