Obituary

Charles Layton Cole, 88, of Dyersburg, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at Humboldt General Hospital.

He was a retired factory worker for Colonial Rubber, member of Ft. Hudson Baptist Church and an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he received the Purple Heart Medal.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Pirtle and Bro. Don Layman officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Hornbeak.

The family will receive visitors from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Flossie Fincher Cole of Dyersburg; two sons, Bobby Cole of Hornbeak and William Dale Cole of Missouri; two step-daughters, Carolyn Allen of Humboldt and Loretta Williams of Dyersburg; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Wanda Gail Cole and Deborah Cole; his first wife, Thelma Cole; his parents, William and Mozell Whitehead Cole; and a sister, Helen King.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Patton, Joe Elmore, James Climer, Winfred Allen, Mark Lindsey and Brad Lindsey.
