Cecil Edward Gooch, 77, of Tiptonville, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He served as Sheriff of Lake County, was a retired chief deputy with the Lake County Sheriff's Department for 19 years. Cecil was a member of Tiptonville Harmony Lodge #184 and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Tiptonville with Bro. John Troutman officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Abel Gooch of Tiptonville; a daughter, Martha Gooch Hopper of Tiptonville; a son, Joseph Gooch and Kayce, of Tiptonville; three sisters, Margaret Gooch Hunter of Big Sandy, Martha Gooch Spann of Smyrna and Barbara Gooch Hanks of Tiptonville; two brothers, Jimmy Gooch and Roger Gooch, both of Hornbeak; and five grandchildren, Alex Hays, Sam Hays, Jackson Hopper, Drake Gooch and Emma Gooch.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Gooch Hays; his parents, Alvin and Thelma McCrery Gooch; a sister, Ruth Pakish; and a brother, Frank Gooch.
Pallbearers will be John Cochran, Danny Gooch, Bradley Gooch, B.J. Gooch, Robert Hunter and Richard Hunter.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
