Mrs. Carolyn Cox Parrish, formerly of Dyersburg, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, AL.  She was born August 18, 1935 in Jackson, TN to the late Frank & Lil Cox.

Mrs. Parrish graduated from Dyersburg High School and made her home in Dyersburg for most of her life.  She was the owner of Parrish Book Store and the Book Rack and, after retirement,  served as a hospital volunteer.  She was a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ. After moving to Alabama in 2013 to be closer to her children, she stayed busy with neighborhood activities and her family. She was a skilled bridge player, a dedicated Braves fan, and most recently a member of the Madison Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Allen Parrish & wife, Regena, of Tuscaloosa, AL and Carol Crews & husband, Jeff, of Athens, AL; her four grandchildren, Ryan & Will Crews and Aubrey & Andrew Parrish (Alana), as well as her beloved canine companion, Joey.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Scott Parrish, Jr.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, TN with Scott Owen officiating.  Visitation will be held at Dyersburg Funeral Home starting at 1:00 p.m.  Pallbearers who will serve are Ryan Crews, Will Crews, Andrew Parrish, and Alex Broussard.
