Obituary

Mr. Carl Franklin House, Jr. of Dyersburg, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at his home.  He was born May 16, 1946 to the late Carl F. House, Sr and Anita Phelan House, of Trenton, TN.  Carl was a graduate of The University of Tennessee where he studied Engineering and then received a master's degree from Memphis State University.  His career as a Civil Engineer began with Memphis Light, Gas & Water, then the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and finally with Forcum-Lannom Contractors in Dyersburg.  Carl was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon-Emeritus, and Chairman of the Personnel Committee.  He is remembered for his outgoing nature, never meeting a stranger and his love for any activity outdoors, especially duck hunting and neighborhood rides with his dogs.

Carl is survived by his wife, Carol House, his son Kurt House and wife, Erin, of Knoxville, TN, his son-in-law, Edward L. "Ted" Carreira, of Scituate, MA. and was greatly loved as "Pop" by his six grandchildren: Parker, Ethan, Asher and Dylan House and Colin and Trevor Carreira.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amy House Carreira and his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, TN at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Mike Hickman. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in Oakland Cemetery in Trenton, TN.  Parker and Ethan House, Colin and Trevor Carreira, Jimmy Milton, Randy Brooks and Blake Clark will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Biblios Life Group, First Baptist Church Trustees: Michael Gauldin, Sherrell Armstrong, Paul Newbill, Rusty Norville, Neil McKee, Cole Shelton, Andrew Harrington and Milton Magee as well as Larry Rogers, David Taylor, Tommy Pulliam, Dave Brown, Page Hart, Jeff Kimbro and Scott Hurst.

The family request that memorials be directed to the Legacy Fund of First Baptist Church or to the work of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
