Obituary

Carl was born, in Dyer County, to Paul and Jessie Christian on December 18, 1938. He passed away on April 13, 2020, in Dyer County. He grew up in a large family, with dozens of relatives and friends living nearby. He was a lifelong resident of the Finley Community,  and a member Finley Baptist Church. He served the Lord there, as Assistant Sunday School director and Chairman of the Building and Grounds committee.

He served his country, in the United States Air Force. After being Honorably Discharged, he returned to Dyer County. He took pride in working hard, and shared his time and energy, in a variety of professional capacities. He was a great provider for his family, and the best father in the world, to his children.  His girls, and their children, were his pride and joy. He made many memories, they will reflect on for comfort. He looked forward to coffee time with his group, auctions and trips with his closest friends, and going to church.  Nearly everyone in the community, has some special thought or saying he may have said. If you met Carl, you knew you had a loyal friend.

Special memories by his grandchildren:

Mary Beth- "Papaw was a specialist at checking eyelids for cracks and rocking even the biggest grandchildren to sleep."

Tayler- "I'll never forget the many times we rode the 2 person tandem bike up and down Walker Road."

Jacob- "His family had many dear names for him that spanned generations, including Pepaw and Papaw. He is a man that is with God now."

Mary Katherine- "Some of my best memories have Pepaw in them. One time he entertained my idea of planting Skittles to grow a Skittles tree."

Left behind to cherish the memories are his wife Mary of 57 years and his daughters Carla Marie Christian (Elliott) and Kimberly Dale Christian (Brad). He leaves one brother Jimmy Dale Christian (Karen) and two sisters, Joan Colvin and Barbara Anderson (Wayne). His grandchildren are Mary Beth Alderman (Kevin), Tayler Johnston (David), Jacob Landfield (Susan) and Mary Katherine Parker (Tyler). He was blessed with great grandchildren Levi Christian Landfield and Peyton Jerome Hassanali. He was most anxiously awaiting the arrival of Gray Austin Parker and Aspen Kate Johnston.  He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, along with his best friend Bill McBride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul McDavid Christian and Jessie Loraine Willard; his brothers, Jacky Wayne Christian and Robert Roy Ray; his sisters June Jones and Paulette Hudson and a beloved nephew, Steve Kindle.

Serving the family as pall bearers, honorary or otherwise: Jeff Jones, Scotty Hollis, Barry Stanley, Brad Studard, Bill McBride, Ricky Tidwell, Barry Crabtree, Tommy Childress, DoonerWilson, Lee Blackburn, and Thomas Boals.
