Obituary

Buddie W. Maddox, 84, of Ridgely, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at his residence.

He was the retired owner of Wynnburg Grocery, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church for 54 years where he served as a deacon for 50 years, song leader, was a member of the men's Sunday school class and teacher of the class for 45 years, and was a school bus driver for Lake County Schools.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wynnburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Chip Davis and the Rev. Larry Byassee officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8:30 p.m. today at Wynnburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Davis and husband, Clifton, of Ridgely; a sister, Sue Fisher of Ridgely; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Amanda Walker, Jason and Lauren Walker, Jon Walker, Jared Walker, Joel Walker, Jamin Walker and Jacy Walker; and extended family Sherry and Gary West of Benton, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Maddox; and his parents, Basil and Sally Maddox.

Pallbearers will be Kent Patterson, Trent Patterson, Terry Jamison, Tony White, Wil Keiser and Robert Mathis. Honorary pallbearers will be George Hall, Jimmy Leake, and the men's Sunday school class of Wynnburg Baptist Church.
