Obituary

Bryant J. Watson, age 60, of Ridgely, TN passed away Friday, Jun 3, 2022 at West TN Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Bryant was born on September 10, 1961 in Detroit, MI to the late William and Juanita Bray Watson. Bryant married Tammy Curtis on August 26, 1986. He proudly served our country by joining the United States Army in 1980 and served until 1983. After leaving the Army on honorable discharge, he joined the National Guard where he served 13 years. Upon completion of serving our country with the National Guard, he went to work at the Northwest TN Correctional Complex. He worked for over 30 years as a correctional officer where he obtained the highest rank of being a Captain. He also held ranks as Sergeant and Lieutenant. Bryant had a love of family and children. He loved to watch his grandchildren in numerous activities, especially playing baseball. He was also an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. Bryant was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Obion County.

The family will receive visitors from 5 until 8 on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Dyersburg Funeral Home's Ridgely Chapel.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home's Ridgely Chapel conducted by Pastor DeAndre Adams and Bro Joe Watson. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery.

Bryant leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Tammy Curtis Watson of Ridgely, TN; two daughters, Mandy Watson of Ridgely, TN and Michelle Crafton (William) of Chapel Hill, TN; one son, Eric Watson of Ridgely, TN; one sister, Vickie Murray of Hornbeak, TN; two brothers, Daniel Watson (Connie) of Murfreesboro, TN and David Watson formerly of Ridgely, TN; his mother-in-law, Wanda Boyd Hampton of Obion, TN; two grandchildren, Nick Crafton and Bentley Crafton both of Chapel Hill, TN; a son by choice, Joshua Rickman Sr. (Kayla) of Ridgely, TN; and six grandchildren by choice who he was known as "BB", Shelby Rickman, Joshua Rickman Jr., DeKoda Rickman, Julie Morgan, Carly Morgan and Noah Rickman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Watson and two sisters, Lizzie McFadden and Betty Baker.

Honoring Bryant as pallbearers will be Mark Roberson, Joshua Rickman Sr. Joshua Rickman Jr., DeKoda Rickman, Ronnie Dean and James Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Johnson and Patrick Johnson.

The family request memorials be directed to St. James Missionary Baptist Church. 512 Troy Rd, Obion, TN 38240 or to the donors choice.
