Obituary

Bro. Tommie Linden Hughes, 68, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at his residence.

He was a minister and member of Chic Church of God and a former 20 year employee of Heckethorn Mfg.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Independent Free Holiness Church with the Rev. Calvin Smith and the Rev. Jacky Goad officiating. Burial will be in Sorrells Chapel Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Rosemary Hughes of Dyersburg; two daughters, Susan Redden of Dyersburg and Janet Hughes of Nashville; a son, Tommy Lynn Hughes of Dyersburg; three sisters, Sue Englehart of Tupelo, MS., Peggy Birmingham of Trenton and Ruth Reagan of Dyersburg; two brothers, Douglas Hughes of Dyersburg and Terry Hughes of Selmer; three grandchildren, Leah Butler and husband, Matt, Drendia Redden and Joshua Hughes, all of Dyersburg; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Redden, Jackson Redden and Jayden Hughes, all of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Sudie Holloway Hughes; and two sisters, Hazel Hughes and Olean Simpson.

Pallbearers will be Royce McGuire, Larry Bizzle, Lanny Vestal, Joe Smith, Lloyd Smith and Jerry Dunevant. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Kelley and Hayden Kelley.
