Brenda Jane Atkins, 65, of Humboldt, formerly of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Humboldt General Hospital.

She was a retired librarian for Crockett County High School. She was a member and former pianist at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg and attended First Christian Church in Humboldt.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery in Chestnut Bluff, TN. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Survivors include her daughter, Jana Suzanne Thompson and husband, Jerry Lynn Thompson, Jr., of Bell Buckle; a son, Arty Jason Atkins and wife, Tiffany, of Jackson; her mother, Thelma Countess of Dyersburg; a sister, Linda Dean of Dyersburg; two brothers, Danny Countess of Las Vegas, NV and David Countess of Dyersburg; and four grandchildren, Ella Grace Thompson, Kaleigh Lashae Davis, Colby Carey and Chandler Carey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Atkins; and her father, Gilbert Countess.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lynn Thompson, Jr., David Countess, Danny Countess, Colby Carey, Buster Gibson and Vandel Spoon. Honorary pallbearer will be Lloyd Taylor.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
