Bobby Gene Smith's Obituary
Bobby Gene Smith, 77, of Ridgely, died Friday March 22, 2013 at his residence.
He was a retired self-employed contractor and a member of Bogota Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the Deacons and the song leader. He was a Mason and a Gideon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Smith of Ridgely; a daughter, Shelia Gurien of Ridgely; a son, Freddie Smith of Ridgely; two sisters, Barbara Pledge and Pat Smith, both of Dyersburg; two grandchildren, Corey Smith and Natosha Gurien; and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Pauline Paschall Smith; a sister, Margaret Jones; and two brothers, L.B. Smith and Dennis Smith.
Pallbearers will be Terry Parker, Larry Parker, J.T. Curtis, Ricky Brooks, Brad Fuller and Leonard Warne. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Keeling, Ben Beck and Nub Garner.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Bogota Baptist Church or to the Gideons.
