Bob Dunavent, 80, of Friendship, TN, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at his residence.

Bob was born on August 24, 1940, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late James L. and Mary Reno Dunavent. He proudly served in the United States Army spending most of his time in Korea. He retired after 33 years as Vice President of Security Bank in Dyersburg. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, where he served as usher for many years. Bob was also a member of the Larry Rogers Life Group Class.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2020 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hickman and the Rev. Bob Dennison officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery in Friendship, TN.

The Dunavent Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Ownby Dunavent of Friendship, TN; one son, Chris Dunavent (Alison) of Oakland, MD; one daughter, Kelly McCanless (Brian) of Friendship, TN; one brother, Donald Dunavent (Maxine) of Orlando, FL; one sister, Linda Butler (Don) of Dyersburg, TN; two sisters-in-law, Gracie Dunavent of Hernando, MS and Betty Rodgers of Eads, TN; two grandsons, Preston McCanless and James McCanless, both of Friendship, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James "Buddy" Dunavent; a sister, Anita Lucas; and a nephew, Sean Dunavent.

Pallbearers will be Preston McCanless, James McCanless, Scott Dennison, Mike Butler, Jeff Ownby and Larry Rodgers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Ownby, Rory Ownby, Hal Evans, Walker Adams, David Adams, Jeremie Skinner and Jason Skinner.

The family requests that facial coverings be worn during visitation and funeral services.
