Billy J. Taylor, 75, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.

Billy was born on January 18, 1944, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Woodrow Taylor and the late Edris Hollingsworth. He worked for the Dyersburg Fire Department for 30 years. During that time, Billy served as Fire Chief for 23 years. Billy was a charter member of Three Oaks Chapel and also served as Associate Pastor. He was a member of the State Fire Commission and was a Mason. Billy was an avid coon hunter and was also a member of the Dyer County Coon Club. He also served in the Tennessee National Guard.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Three Oaks Chapel with the Rev. Bill Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Taylor Family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Three Oaks Chapel.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janice Taylor of Dyersburg, TN; two daughters, Janene Burkhead and husband, Joel, and Cheryl Mathis and husband, Tom, all of Dyersburg, TN; two brothers, Jimmy Taylor of Brownsville, TN and David Hollingsworth of Dyersburg, TN; a sister, Tanya Alexander of Dyersburg, TN; seven grandchildren, Mallory Jackson, Cara Hassell, Kristen Williams, Ally Burkhead, Zane Mathis, John Mathis and Jack Mathis; and four great-grandchildren, Landon Burnette, Wyatt Jackson, Tucker Hassell and Avy Mathis.

Pallbearers will be Jason Jackson, Landon Burnette, Zane Mathis, John Mathis, Patrick Hassell and Earl Burton.
